Lumecca® IPL Laser

Targeted light-based treatment designed to improve skin clarity, reduce pigmentation, and restore a more even skin tone.

  • Lumecca IPL is an advanced form of Intense Pulsed Light therapy, designed to treat pigmentation, sun damage, and vascular irregularities within the skin.

Unlike traditional IPL, Lumecca delivers a higher peak power, allowing for more effective targeting of pigmented and vascular lesions, often achieving visible improvement in fewer sessions.

  • Pigmentation and uneven skin tone are often caused by cumulative sun exposure, inflammation, and environmental factors. Over time, this can lead to visible discolouration, redness, and an overall uneven complexion.

Topical skincare alone is often limited in its ability to fully correct these concerns, particularly when pigment sits deeper within the skin.

Lumecca works by targeting the source of the pigmentation, allowing the skin to gradually clear and return to a more even, balanced tone.

  • Lumecca uses targeted light energy to penetrate the skin and selectively heat pigmented or vascular lesions.

This energy is absorbed by melanin (pigment) or haemoglobin (blood vessels), causing the unwanted pigment or vessels to break down. Over the following days, the treated areas darken and gradually flake away or are naturally eliminated by the body.

This process allows for a clearer, more even skin tone without damaging the surrounding tissue.

    • Sun damage and pigmentation
Targets areas of excess melanin, helping to break down and reduce visible pigmentation.

    • Freckles and age spots
Lightens and clears superficial pigmentation, restoring a more even complexion.

    • Redness and rosacea
Reduces visible redness by targeting dilated blood vessels within the skin.

    • Broken capillaries
Effectively treats small visible vessels, particularly around the nose and cheeks.

    • Uneven skin tone
Improves overall clarity and balance within the skin.

HydraLite

HydraLite has been designed to prepare the skin before light-based treatment, allowing Lumecca IPL to work in a more controlled and effective way.

Rather than treating the skin in isolation, this combined protocol begins with Hydrafacial to remove surface build-up, clear congestion within the pores, and optimise hydration levels. This creates a more receptive environment within the skin, allowing light energy to penetrate more evenly and target pigmentation with greater precision.

When IPL is performed on unprepared skin, surface debris, oil, and uneven hydration can interfere with how light is absorbed. By conditioning the skin first, we are able to improve treatment performance, reduce unwanted interference, and achieve a more consistent result.

Lumecca is then used to target pigmentation, sun damage, and vascular irregularities, breaking down excess pigment and restoring a clearer, more even skin tone.

This approach allows us to not only correct visible pigmentation, but also improve overall skin condition at the same time, leaving the skin clearer, brighter, and more balanced.

    • Improved light penetration for more effective treatment

    • More even and consistent results across the skin

    • Reduced surface interference from oil, debris, and congestion

    • Simultaneous improvement in hydration and skin quality

    • A more complete approach to skin correction, not just pigmentation removal

  • In most cases, yes. Treating pigmentation without first preparing the skin can limit how evenly the light energy is absorbed. By conditioning the skin with Hydrafacial beforehand, we are able to create a more consistent surface, allowing Lumecca to work with greater precision.

This often leads to a more uniform result, particularly in areas of uneven tone or stubborn pigmentation.

  • This is where HydraLite is particularly beneficial.

By improving hydration and skin condition first, we are able to treat pigmentation more effectively while also restoring overall skin clarity and brightness.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most clients describe the sensation as a quick, warm flick against the skin. While certain areas can feel slightly more sensitive, the treatment is generally well tolerated and very quick to perform.

  • Many clients notice visible improvement after a single session, however a course of 3-6 treatments is typically recommended for optimal results, depending on the level of pigmentation or redness being treated.

  • Pigmented areas will usually darken within 24–48 hours following treatment before gradually flaking away or fading over the following 7–10 days.

This is a normal part of the treatment process as the skin clears excess pigment.

  • Downtime is minimal. The skin may appear slightly flushed immediately after treatment, with some temporary darkening of pigmentation.

Most clients return to normal activities straight away.

  • Lumecca IPL is most suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I–III, where pigmentation and vascular concerns can be treated safely and effectively.

In some cases, we are also able to treat Fitzpatrick skin type IV, depending on your skin condition and history. Suitability will always be carefully assessed to ensure the safest and most appropriate approach.

If you are unsure of your skin type, we recommend getting in touch or booking a consultation, where we can assess your skin and guide you accordingly.

  • Lumecca effectively removes existing pigmentation, however new pigmentation can develop over time due to sun exposure, hormones, and environmental factors.

Maintaining results with SPF and ongoing treatments is key to long-term improvement.
