During the ageing process the skin loses elasticity and volume and we start to appear tired and less youthful.
For most people this starts to happen around the age of 30 but due to genetics, lifestyles, sun exposure and just the modern day world we live in this can start to happen sooner. Botulinum Toxin is used to stall this process and prevent wrinkles and facial lines developing and help existing lines fade. It is the most popular non-surgical treatment in the world today as it works so well in helping to smooth away any forehead wrinkles, crows feet and laughter lines.
Once dynamic lines (appear only through expression) turn into static lines (appear regardless of expression) it becomes difficult to eradicate these through treatment, hence the saying ‘prevention is better than cure’.
Anti-ageing injections work by blocking nerve impulses that trigger muscle contractions, which stop wrinkles from forming and in turn, creates a smooth, glowing more youthful look and completely transforms the texture, tone and clarity of the skin.
Here at The Look by Louise® a few tiny injections of purified proteins are administered into specific muscle groups. The treatment is minimally invasive and delivers dramatic results lasting around 3-4 months. The treatment is safe with minimal discomfort and downtime as suitability for each individual is subject to consultation at either our Bolton or Central London clinics.
Botox® is priced on area and there are 3 areas in total:
Frontalis Muscle which treats the horizontal frown lines on the forehead
Glabella which treats the vertical lines in the eyebrows
Orbicularis oculi muscles which treat the crows feet surrounding the eyes
Upon consultation Louise and our Nurses will assess and advise you on the number of areas she would recommend, also taking into consideration each individual desired look such as a lifted brow. This consists of 3 areas of Anti-Wrinkle Injections in the forehead and around the eye and brow, allowing the area to be opened up and the brow lifted resulting in a younger fresher look.
Botulinum Toxin can be combined with various other eye treatments such Dermapen® Microneedling and Mesoestetic® Eye Contour Peels to really eradicate the tell tail signs of facial ageing.
What is Botulinum Toxin?
Botox is a protein derived from a bacteria named Clostridium Botulinum.
How does it work?
Injected, it acts as a temporary block to the signals from the nerve endings to the muscle, resulting in restricted movement.
How long does it last?
On average and depending on client including factors such as age, lifestyle and muscle strength it can last around 3-4 months.
Is it painful?
Anti Ageing injections are one of the least painful nonsurgical treatments our team carries out and the whole procedure takes around 10-15 minutes. Anaesthetic can be applied if a client has a low pain threshold but isn’t really necessary.
When will I see results?
Results start to show within the first week of treatment and full effects are noticeable after 14 days. If any reviews are necessary within the first 2 weeks after your initial appointment, this will be inclusive, anything after this timeframe is chargeable.
What are the side effects?
As with any procedure there can be side effects but the most commonly reported from Anti-Wrinkle Injections are headaches and migraines. These generally subside once the full effects of the treatment have taken place. Clients can sometimes feel pain at the injection site or have slight swelling and bruising. Again all common side effects but will subside within a short time after procedure. Brow drooping is always a possibility when it comes to Toxin but with our clinic having a vast and knowledgeable understanding of facial anatomy and face to face consultations with Louise and our team of nurses there really is nothing to worry about.
What to avoid after treatment?
To get maximum results from your treatment please adhere to the following advice. For the next 24 hours refrain from any alcohol, strenuous exercise, make up application and UVA tanning beds. Please remember, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, strenuous exercise, and sun exposure can effect and help to reduce the lifespan of your treatment.
What will happen if I don't keep up or continue with my Botox Treatment?
If you did decide to stall your treatment for any reason, any areas that have been treated with Botox® will gradually return to the way they were before any treatment began. The ageing process will also continue.
